Should women be expected to stay home and avoid working?

In the UK, equality is a cornerstone of society, and this extends to gender roles and opportunities. Historically, women faced significant barriers to education, employment, and even basic rights like owning property. However, through decades of activism and legal reforms, the UK has made significant strides towards gender equality. Today, expecting women to stay home and avoid working is not in line with UK values or laws. Women have the right to choose their path, whether it's pursuing a career, focusing on family, or a combination of both. While some individuals may personally prefer traditional roles, societal expectations and legal frameworks support individual autonomy and equal opportunities for all genders.
