Our Commitment to Your Privacy

We take your privacy seriously. Life in the UK Test Storybook does NOT collect, transmit, or share any personal data such as names, email addresses, or precise location. All study progress and app usage data stays on your device.

How Data Moves Across the Internet (CDN & API Calls)

To display images and audio for questions, the app fetches these files from a secure Content Delivery Network (CDN) and may occasionally make requests to API servers to retrieve or update educational content. No personal data is transmitted, but basic device information such as your device's IP address is automatically sent as part of standard internet requests.

• Why? This is necessary for the app to download images or audio files for questions and explanations.
• What data is transmitted? Only basic technical data (such as your device's IP address and browser/device type), which is standard for any internet connection. No location, contact, or personal identifiers are accessed or collected by the app.
• How is it protected? All requests are encrypted using HTTPS.
• What happens to your data? We do not use this technical data for any purpose beyond delivering media content. It is not used for tracking, analytics, or advertising, and is not shared with any third parties beyond the CDN providers required to deliver the app’s content.

Note: While IP addresses are sent as part of internet requests, we do not access, store, or use them for any purpose other than delivering the requested content (images and audio). We do not derive or track your location.

What Information Is Stored (Locally Only)

The app stores the following information exclusively on your device using local storage:

• Study Progress: Which questions you've answered and whether they were correct
• Test Results: Your mock test scores and completion times
• App Settings: Your preferences (dark mode, auto-advance settings)
• Study Time: Total time spent studying (for your personal statistics)
• Pinned Questions: Questions you've bookmarked for review
• Review Schedule: Spaced repetition data for flashcard reviews

Important: This data never leaves your device. It is stored using React Native's AsyncStorage, which is similar to saving a file on your phone.

How to Delete Your Data

You have complete control over your data:

• Reset within app: Go to Settings → "Reset All Stats & Settings" to clear all data
• Uninstall the app: This will permanently delete all locally stored data

Permissions

The app requires minimal permissions:

• Storage: To save your progress locally on your device
• Internet: Only to securely load question images and audio from our CDN or to fetch updated educational content (no personal data is sent or collected)

Third-Party Services

The app uses minimal third-party services:

• Expo Framework: The development framework (configured so as not to collect user data)
• Image & Audio CDN: Question images and audio are loaded from flashcards.crystalballclub.com and other secured servers as needed. These services only receive the technical data necessary to deliver content (such as IP address) and do not use cookies or tracking for your requests.

Children's Privacy

This app is designed for adult learners preparing for the UK citizenship test and is not intended for children under 13.

Data Security

Since all user data remains on your device, security depends on your device's security settings. We recommend using device lock screens and keeping your device software updated. All media files and API data transmitted are encrypted using HTTPS.

Data Protection & Safety

We are committed to keeping your data safe and respecting your privacy at all times. All study progress, test results, and app settings are stored locally on your device and are never uploaded to our servers. Only you have access to this data, and you remain in full control through the app’s reset and uninstall options.

When the app connects to the internet (for example, to download images or audio via our Content Delivery Network), only essential technical information such as your device’s IP address and standard network request details are transmitted. This is a routine part of any internet connection and is necessary for the app to work. No personal information, precise location, contact data, or study progress is collected, stored, or processed by us or shared with third parties.

We do not use cookies, analytics, or tracking technologies within the app. Our CDN providers may log standard connection data (such as IP address, device/browser type, and time of request) for operational and security purposes, but they do not use this information for marketing or user profiling.

All data transmitted over the internet is encrypted using modern security protocols (HTTPS/TLS) to ensure your information is protected during transfer.

Government Data Sources

All test questions are based on the publicly available "Life in the United Kingdom: A Guide for New Residents" handbook published by TSO (The Stationery Office) on behalf of the UK Government. We do not have access to actual test questions.

We may update this privacy policy to reflect changes in the app. The "Effective Date" at the top will be updated accordingly.
